Apologies if I'm in the wromg place for this question!

Can anyone explain to me what an internal server error is, and how to find a 'server error log' ?

    Re: Server error

I'm using Windows XP and AOL 9.0.

As you can see, I can post messages here, but whenever I try to post on a BBC messageboard, I get a white screen with the words 'internal server error' and a suggestion that I examine the 'server error log'. I've no idea what this means. I always used to be able to post on BBC message boards, and as everything else on my computer is operating fine, I assume it can't be my fault. I've tried contacting the BBC, but they haven't responded. AOL tech chat couldn't tell me what a 'server error log' was or how to access it. I'm stumped!

    Re: Server error

Take a look here for an explaination of the error code.

You can try this, but I'm not sure what to do with the information.
"Solution for HTTP 500 - Internal Server Error
In Internet Explorer 5.0 go to Tools/InternetOptions/Advanced and and uncheck "Friendly HTTP messages." This will cause your browser to stop giving you the HTTP 500 Internal Server Error message and pinpoint the actual problem with your script."

There's a step-by-step tutorial that might help you solve it here. But the problem may well be on the BBC server's end and not yours. HTH <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
