Outlook message count on Login screen XP (XP)

I know that both Hotmail & Outlook Express allow the number of unread emails to be displayed on the login screen for XP. Why can't Outlook itself not do that? I think it should simply use the "SHSetUnreadMessageCount" call.... Anyone aware of a little tool that does just that?

FWIW I also looked on Slipstick, but didn't see anything comparable to what you are looking for. Two promising links (Glance and My Reality Bar) are either no longer valid or written for Outlook 2000. I may have missed something else there.
