    Date Autofill

How do I turn of the Autofill date feature? We currently use both UK & US style dates in documents. Whenever I type ia a date of DD MMM YYYY the auotfill kicks in and I end up with todays date.

Example:if I type in "31 May 2001" on the on the 6th June as soon as I press the 1 key a box pops up with "2001-06-06" and enters this after the 1

How do I turn this off?

    Thanks,

    Simon

If you goto Tools, AutoCorrect and select the Autotext tab, you can unselect the option to show AutoComplete tip for Autotext and Dates.

You can also just ignore it and press the space bar or arrow key etc.
That might be better if you like to have the other auto text tips to show.

Thanks, I looked there but did not see the entry that auto completes dates.

In Word 2000, you click the Tools menu, then select Autocorrect... That gives you a dialog box with 4 tabs at the top, and the third one along is AutoText - select that.
Then you should find a check box at the top saying Show Autocomplete tip for AutoText and dates. Make sure that box is cleared.

See attached document to see the dialog box.

Or are you using some different Word version?
