    PowerPoint Seizing Up (PPT XP)

I am running PowerPoint XP. While running a show the system completely locks up. I can not advance to the next frame. I have to escape out to slide sorter, then back into show.

    Hi there

    Welcome to the Lounge

I may need a bit more info.

    1) Does this only happen on a particular slide or does it happen on all presentations?
    2) Are you doing the presentation on a laptop or is this when you are previewing it on a PC
    3) What version have you got?
    4) have you got any large images or files attached?
    5) Any back end VBA to get it running?

    2) Running from A Toshiba Laptop
    3) Windows XP 2003
    4) Yes, I have a large file with images, and videos. It's a business meeting presentation with a lot of content.

    Hi there

No problems with question 5, some people whizz up there presentations with Visual Basic for Applications, underlying code or macros for short.

there appears to be a stability problem with Powerpoint 2003 there are some patches you may want to try this from microsoft.
Give this a try, I hope it works

    Hi there

I was reliably informed by one of the moderators at Woody's that the link I sent you was wrong, my apologies and hope it doesn't stop you coming back again.

I reckon your problem requires you to update your service pack for Office XP which can be found at Microsoft here

    Good luck

Thank you for your response. It seized up in front of 150 people yesterday. After a lot of testing and head scratching it turned out to be an incorrect touch pad driver.

Re: PowerPoint Seizing Up (PPT XP)

Here's an even more embarrassing story, involving a presentation given in a local movie theatre. The laptop was on a lecturn, resting on the thin piece of wood that keeps material from sliding off. The button to the CD drive was being depressed by this piece of wood, so the computer was locking up waiting for the media to be inserted or the drive to at least be closed. After a couple of restarts someone lifted up the laptop and the drawer slid forward. Eureka! (So having those button recessed and on the side is a good thing.)
