    Footer woes (2003 SP1)

    I have a document to which I want to add a footer on the last page only. I create a continuous section break at the end of the document and place the cursor in the new section. The status bar at the bottom of the screen shows Page xx Sec 2. When I click on View | Header & Footer, the cursor goes to the header, which is in section 1. I click on 'Switch between Header and Footer' and the footer shows 'Footer -Section 1-'. The only way I have been able to get the footer into section 2 is to create a page break, so that the when I click on View | Header & Footer the header is also in section 2.

    How do I create a footer for for section 2 when the header for that page is in section 1?

    You can design a CONDITIONAL FOOTER in footer 1 that says IF this is the last page of the document, print this in the footer by using the IF FIELD, else stay blank. In section one the footer might look something like this: <caution, I'm working from memory so syntax may not be 100% correct>/

    { IF { PAGE } = { numpages} "last page footer text or footer fields","" }

    The curly braces must be inserted by using CTRL-F9, you cannot manually type them. Using this NESTED FIELD approach, you don't have to put in a section break. The Lounge has a search function where you can see other people's threads about this and get the exact syntax.

    Hi Eowyn,

    Nearly there! Correct syntax is:
    {IF{PAGE} = {numpages} "last page footer text or footer fields"}
    or
    {IF{PAGE}= {numpages} "last page footer text or footer fields" ""}

    Cheers
