Money?

I've gotten a LOT of help from the Lounge.

Is there any way for me to give some money to support whatever expenses the Woody operation might have?

Thanks for the kind words and the offer, but we don't accept money directly. You can click on the Google ads in the lower left corner from time to time; a (very small) amount of money goes towards us for every click. This is used for maintenance.

    Re: Money?

Or I suppose I could stock up on Woody's books. (I just bought a used one from Half.com, which of course doesn't enrich Woody!)

I am a cheapskate who doesn't spend money on ANYTHING when it can be avoided. But my little company is paying a consultant to do the Access development that is beyond my meager abilities to do. Lounge advice has saved the consultant at least several hours of research and experimentation, and has eliminated the need for us to pay him for it. Thus the interest and motivation to make some sort of contribution.

IMHO you should have a means for people to make such donations. You needn't push it or promote it, but it ought to be there. We've done that in our Navy ship reunion group, and have found people to be very generous.

The books are a good idea. On the main WOPR portal there is a list of books that provide "affiliate" links that help support the site.

Perhaps we also should start a collection for Mike, since this server runs on Linux and he probably wishes it could run Windows Server 2003.

But most important are your contributions to other Loungers. Money can't buy that!

I suppose another way to pay the lounge back is to keep logging in and sharing your knowledge with other users. To help a person in need is one of the biggest gifts that can be given. Though I cannot speak for the lounge, I'm sure that your support, tips and discoveries are appreciated and well seen as a recompense. Re: Money?

     for your offer Lou,

There are a great number of worthy causes out there where you and everyone else can donate money.

Lot's and lot's of people donate to the lounge on a very regular basis, alas, the donation is of a wisdom kind rather than a fiscal one.

Much safer that way, after all, no-one can steal your knowledge, they may be able to exploit it, but they can't steal it.

Sharing is a very rewarding activity enjoyed by a lot of loungers.
    Cheers, Claude.

I'm not going to even acknowledge that blasphemous statement.

    Hallo fellow Pittssburgher.

I think they would like you to buy the books.

I've seen a lot of sites that have "donate" links, which I guess is through paypal. Clicking through to ads is another nice thing to do. I've even seen a few people who had links to their Amazon wihs list <g>

    Re: Money?

I would just like to add my penny worth and say a big thank you to this forum that I was introduced to by a trainer. It is a very valuable resource and has been important in me developing a new db.
