    Send To Mail Recipient (XP/ME)

    I have tried the following:
Right-click on file>Send To: Mail Recipient Outlook opens, I type proper e-mail, click Send. Outlook closes. However, Outlook will send e-mail the conventional way if I open the program and create a new message and insert the file. Why does Outlook shut down when I try to do it the first way? Thank you very much.

Are you saying Outlook is NOT open when you try it the first way? (i.e. Outlook is not already running.)

Re: Send To Mail Recipient (XP/ME)

Thank you for responding. Outlook is not already open when I try it the first way. I just tried it with Outlook open on both machines. It worked with the ME computer but did not work with the XP machine. However, there is a difference. The XP computer had Microsoft Word selected as the program in Tools>Options>Message Format. However, when I deselected it, I still could not send out the message with attachment the first way. When I try to send a message the conventional way, it works. Also, the ME machine has Outlook 2002. the XP machine has the 2003 version.
    Thank you again.

Re: Send To Mail Recipient (XP/ME)

This is how my machines with Windows XP SP2 and Office 2003 SP1 works.

The "Send to" will NOT get sent until one fires up Outlook. This may be a security function so things can NOT be sent without the user knowledge.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Re: Send To Mail Recipient (XP/ME)

Thank you for responding. On my machine with Windows XP and Outlook 2003 I opened Outlook. I then went to the document and tried Send To>Mail Recipient. It did not work. However, when I used the conventional way of opening Outlook, File>New Mail Message, Insert file, it works perfectly. The Send To technique does not work. Could there be a setting I have to make? Thank you very much.

Could be that your firewall is blocking the action. You might need to add these different programs to your white list or the ASK list.

Re: Send To Mail Recipient (XP/ME)

Thank you, however I don't think that's it. I disabled the firewall even though the firewall had been configured to accept Outlook. I started Outlook. Again, I right-clicked on the file, then clicked Send To>Mail Recipient. Nothing happened when I clicked Send. It must be something else.
    Thank you again.

If you are running Outlook 2003 with the rest of Office XP Suite, that is the problem - see Hans' <post#=453992>post 453992</post#>.

Re: Send To Mail Recipient (XP/ME)

All Office programs are 2003. However, I have the same problem with an image file, jpeg or bitmap, when I try Send To>Mail Recipient. Thank you, though.
