Quick Lookup of Contact Crashes Outlook (2000 SR3)

Outlook's Standard toolbar has an area where you can enter the name of a contact and their details open up. All of a sudden every time I put the cursor in the text area Outlook immediately crashes. See attachment. Does anyone know how to solve this?

I recently upgraded my Office from 2000 no service pack to 2000 SR3. Could it be connected?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated because this is a major annoyance.

    Thanks, David

David, is there crash message, or does Outlook just freeze? If there's a message, can you post it back to this thread?

    Are you using any add-ins?

    Thanks for writing.

For some reason I can't post the screen shot but it's the standard Windows little crash window. You get it and then you can't do anything. You press OK as if it's ok.

This is the long version of events.

    1. For a long time, with Outlook 2000 and SR1a I had this problem. No add-ins.

    2. I recently had to reinstall my computer so for a long time I was with Outlook 2000 no Service Packs and there was no problem.

    3. At some point I installed Lookout and Junkout. Still no problem.

    4. About a week ago I installed SR3 and since them I have had the problem. Sometimes it's ok but usually I get the crash.

    5. I have uninstalled Junkout and Lookout but the problem has not gone away.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

<img src=/S/scratch.gif border=0 alt=scratch width=25 height=29> I haven't found this problem mentioned anywhere, so try this maintenance step which might help and won't hurt, except that '/cleanviews' will reset any View customizations to Outlook defaults. Close Outlook and all Outlook windows, and close any Outlook-related processes such as PDA synchronization software.

    In the Start | Run box enter: Outlook.exe /noextensions /cleanfinders /cleanviews
and press enter. Outlook will start.

See MS Outlook Help for more command line switch information.
