    Covert hours to days (XP)

ishtere a custom format i can use to convert the numbers in cells to days, e.g a cell contains number 55 to represent the number of hours a task took. Can we apply a format that will day it took 2.4 days?

    Thanks

You cannot use a custom format for this, but you can calculate the number of days in another cell. Say that the number of hours is in cell A2. The formula =A2/24 will calculate the number of days.

You may not have to enter the formula in each cell individually. If the cells are in a column, you can enter the formula in the cell next to the first one, and fill down as far as needed. Copy and paste will work too.

Here is another possibility for you if you want to permenantly change those cells to days:

1- Select any empty cell and enter the number 24 into it.

2- Select the cell with 24 in it and then select Copy from the Edit menu to copy the 24 to the clipboard.

3- Select all of the cells that you want to convert to days.

4- Select Paste Special from the Edit menu.

5- In the resulting Paste Special dialog box, in the Operation section, click on the radio button next to Divide so that there is a tick mark there.

6- Click on OK. The selected cells should now be converted to days.
