    autocomplete phone numbers (2003)

I want to put four digit internal phone numbers in the outlook contact phone number field, but each time I get a dialog box saying I must give area codes etc. This is annoying, and I cant make the box go away easily. Is there a way of turning off this dialog? I really want the choice of using any length / size of phone number. Thanks.

Outlook's phone number fields are coded to link into Windows dialling software. If you only want to display the internal extensions, you will have to use a custom Contacts form and field. The usual workaround is to put " x####" at the end of a "normal" phone number - to indicate the extension. HTH

    Thanks for the reply.
I did find a way to get what I want - if you view 'phone list' and add the telephone number column, you can enter a phone number of any length wihout Outlook complaining. I find this a convenient way to work.
