Combined point & bar chart (Excel 2000)

Hi, I'm doing some pay modelling using specialist software, basically I don't trust it and I'm going to do it on Excel instead.

One of the key functions of the specialist software is the production of graphs like the one that I attach. The key point of this graph is that the "bars" are not of equal width. Is there a way to do this in Excel? Or with an add-in? (you'll have to double click on the attached graph to get a proper view of it)

I know it isn't the same, but what about a bubble chart?

No, doesn't really do it. How it works is that the people inside the box, their pay stays the same. The people vertically above the box get a pay drop & the ones below the boxes get a raise.

I need to manipulate the boxes to get the least impact on staff. This is easy to do on the spreadsheet but it's far easier to visualise if you've the chart to look at as well.
