Word 2003 automatically names your file. (Word 2003)

One of my users reports that in Word XP when saving a file for the first time, the first line of the document would be selected at the default file name. For Example, if the first sentence of the document was "This is the name of my file," when you click the save icon, by default the name of the file would be This is the name of my file.doc until it is changed.

In Word 2003, if the first sentence is "This is the name of my file," the default file name is Thisisth.doc

FINALLY THE QUESTION IS: What settings do I change in Word or Windows to go back to using the sentence as the default file name.
    Many thanks.

Using the full first sentence is how Word 2003 works for me (at least on the two machines I use regularly). The filename you're saying that Word is using is exactly 8 characters long, which suggests that either Word or Windows is trying to force you to use the old 8.3 filename (8 characters plus 3-character extension) standard.
