Auto create with similar names! (Excel 2000>)

Using Name | Create is great to assign auto names to ranges of cells. But it can't be used if products (say for a different region, or quarter) are captured on the same sheet. When I use the create command on the second block of data, it informs me that range names will be replaced.

Is the a way to automatically name similar ranges eg.. Prod1, Prod2, Prod3... if the names are identical? Any suggestions before I start searching or wasting time with a macro or something!

I don't think there is a built-in method to do this. You could perhaps create a macro for it, but I don't have code at hand.

Thanx for the reply Hans. I will let this post hang around and see if anyone has some shortcut for me. If not, I guess I'll need to dabble into VBA and see what I can build!

Maybe just use the first table and then use my Name Manager's List/pickup feature to quickly create indexed "copies" of the names?
