Simple enough, but?? (windows xp )

How do I make my Windows Media Player my default? Seems simple enough to to go control panel in audio, but I found nothing there. Setting used to be Media and has now converted to QuickTime. Thanks!

You can edit the file associations for QuickTime by starting the QuickTime player and selecting Edit | Preferences | QuickTime Preferences... or by opening the QuickTime control panel (in Other Control Panel Options if you're using category view in Control Panel). See if the old associations return if you clear the associations for QuickTime.

I'm not certain, but I believe that just releasing the files from Quicktime will leave them "disassociated" <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>.

It might be better to right click on a file of the type you want to change the association for and select Open with from the drop down menu and then click the Browse button if the program you want isn't on the list) and then scroll to and select the program from list and then tick the box Always use this program.... and click OK. Repeat for each file you want to reassociate.

Thanks, Hans, but what I did was go into "set program access and defaults" and change my default to windows media player .Then I went into media player and checked all file types for media as the default.
I also did as you suggested. Everything works as it's supposed to, THANK YOU!
