Can VBA read a chart? (Excel 97 SR2)

I have a user that would appreciate some help... (and it is way over my head)
In the attached workbook I have a description of the desired results and also a sample Chartsheet.
He gets Workbooks with Chartsheets that do not have the data table included. Can VBA "read" a chart and do calculations on the datapoint values?
The attached workbook has a much better description.

    Thanks for your input,
    Chuck

I don't know if this is possible, but if so, it won't be easy - there is no correlation between lines drawn on a chart and the values displayed in the chart. Instead of doing a lot of work, with guesswork and with the distinct possibility of interpreting data incorrectly, why not ask the source to provide the relevant data in table form? They must have it in that form, after all.

    Hans,

Thanks for the fast response. I had already told him this would be the probable response, but figured I would throw it out there, just in case...
Even if we get the data tables, we still have the issue of the "hand drawn" lines and what the value of the Top point is. I do not think this will be feasible (even with the data table).
I do want to thank you for your time.
