    Filling combo box (2000)

I have a table (named "Log") for tracking mileage for driving on the job that simply has three fields: date, trip and mileage for that trip. These are repetitive trips, so there is another table, "Trips" with tow fields, one with the name of the trip and the other with the assigned mileage for that trip.

In the data entry form, the date is entered manually, the trip is selected from the list in a combo box derived from the "Trips" table. When I select the appropriate trip from teh drop-down list, what is the best way for the mileage for that trip to automatically fill the control for the mileage, rather than entering it manually?

If the mileage for a trip is fixed, you don't need a mileage field in the Log table. You can create a query based on the Log and Trips tables, joined on the trip field. Double click the join and specify that you want to return all records from the Log table. Add date and trip from the Log table and mileage from the Trips table to the query grid. Use this query as basis for forms and reports.
