Invisibles

I know this is not the most important LM message in the world but I have been looking at the post and seen that a few loungers are using smilies that are not on the main list namely

     and

Are there any more lurking under the floor boards of the Lounge, 'cos it's not fair, I want to use them especially if they are

There are 2 options for the smilies panel:
Complete - displays all the smilies in a window that can be scrolled
Separate - displays the smilies on 4 pages

The Complete version includes some smilies that are not in the Separate version.

    Re: Invisibles

In the Display preferences page, you can specify whether you want to see all smilies in a single scrolling page, or in separate pages. For obscure reasons, these versions differ slightly. The smilie is only available in the complete (scrolling) version, there may be one or two others that are only available in the separate version.

    Thanks Tony

That is about the first time I have looked in my preferences since I started here. I just assumed that the separate smilie page was the norm. It was driving me nuts trying to work out why some of the newer loungers knew about the smilies and I didn't

You'd probably enjoy the "Newbies" forum then. It's way more polite than Scuttlebut.

Well I'm . My setting is for complete but what I get is three smilie pages plus one flags page (not one continuous page) - and I see [ blank ] and [ coffeetime ]

    Re: Invisibles

But can you use the vertical scroll bar to move from page to page, or do you have to click a link?

Chris, what's with the little "edited" footnote you seem to be adding to EVERY post lately? Is it necessary or am I missing some joke?

    Re: Invisibles

I have the vertical scroll bar, so I guess I must be continuous (not to make a long story longer, that is)

    Re: Invisibles

You are not necessarily missing a joke. I noticed that serious loungers make these little "edited" thingos when they've gone back and changed a posting. Since I'm always going back and changing a posting, I thought I'd start adding it whenever I edit a post. Since I spend more time editing a post (i'm always forgetting to capitalise the personal pronoun, and can't type serach or spreadsheet properly the first time without screwing it up), I seem to spend more time editing a post than actually writing it. Oh. I just said that. Anyway, as well I wanted to experiment a bit more with emphaisis (see! It's happened again!!) in signatures, colours for Jupiter, urls, and so on. Truth is, not many people have enough time to bother with it, it seems to me. I might consider seeing if I can't default to having that in place (the edited bit I mean) and then just delete it after doing a spell-check and preview.
    (later)
I just tried that and found I still had a typo, so I put it back in). Hope this helps.

(Edited by charlotte on 06-Jun-05 08:56. to show graphic)
If you edit a post, Chris, there is an option to mark it as edited, which includes a textbox to add the text to display as the reason for the edit. That is what I normally use when I edit a post, my own or someone else's. However, I don't ordinarily bother if it is a simple spelling problem unless it changes the meaning of the post. I do always use it when I edit someone else's post.

How would I go about editing Bowlie's posts?

I currently get Jezza to make my posts to Bowlie.

YOU can't. Mods and admins have supernatural powers. However, we're also polite and so we like to let people know when we've mucked about with their posts.
