    Pst files stored on CD

A few of our users have recently have their Archive.pst files burnt to CD in order to preserve some space in their personal directories. However there seems to be a problem.

A user just tried to access the file on her CD, and gets the message 'File access is denied. You do not have the permission required to access the file <path>'!

We are using Outlook 98 on Windows NT 4, SP6a. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, as I've tried looking on the Web but have come up with nothing...

    TIA,

    C. Le Cras

unless you are using cdrw and have full read and write access to the pst, you'll need to copy it to the hard drive and change the read only flag. Outlook needs read/write access on psts.

Re: Pst files stored on CD

This sounds like a problem MaryJ solved for someone else some time ago. When the .pst file is burned to the CD, the properties are set to read only - Outlook requires read/write access to it.
Use Windows Explorer to find the .pst file and remove the read only property.
