    Split Database (Access 2003)

I am working on a simple db application that I have split into Application and Data peices.

When I run this application form the network, performance is VERY bad. On may local machine forms pop in about 1 or 2 seconds. The same form when running from the network takes upward of 45 seconds.

I recombined the Application and the Data and ran a test on the network. The forms popped in the 2 to 5 second time frame.

Is the time difference due to my application having to go back and forth to the network for data when split?
Is there a way to improve the performance?

I can leave the two part as one, but that will make revisions to the forms / code more difficult.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Have a look at the replies to <post#=434520>post 434520</post#>.

One other thing to check is anti-virus software. If the workstations try to check every opened file for viruses, this can slow down things considerably. Virus checking of network drives should be left to the servers.

Also, is Frontend database sitting on a local drive? If not, it should be.
