IP address asking for login... (XP SP2)

This morning my computer and one other on our small network are popping up every 3 seconds with a login dialog to an IP address asking for a user name and pw. I have no idea who this is. I rebooted, scanned the drive with NAV, scanned for spyware. The IP is 65.61.137.188 and is owned by rackspace.com. I contacted them and all they could say was to send an e-mail to their abuse department and they'll look into it...sometime. Every request for the internet is going through this request.

Can anyone help me with this?

Have you checked Sysinternals Freeware - Autoruns or msconfig to see if anything strange is being loaded at startup?

Nothing suspicious in either of those. I even ran the autorun.

NOW the popup has the same IP, but the header says "59679 sweb4.sat intensive.int". I didn't see anything on google about this at all.

The other computer with the same issue even had his computer off and as soon as he started it, it popped up with this popup. Nothing has been installed new.

Which spyware do you recomend? I have been using Spybot, but I'm not sure it catches everything.

    Doesn't this sound like spyware?

Does internet explorer have a Proxy server configured? (Tools > Internet Options > Connections, then look at LAN Settings and the settings for whichever dial up setting you use).

No, it's blank, all except for "automatically detect settings".

You should not normally have "Automatically detect settings", this setting allows your Proxy configuration to be configured by your DHCP server and is nornally only used in large enterprises. Can you clear this checkbox and reboot to see if it helps.

That actually fixed both PC's. Thanks StuartR!
