Adobe Acrobat Reader 7 Integration (IE v6.0)

When I used the free version of Adobe Acrobat Reader (AAR) v6 I never had any problems with it opening in IE. Since I have dowloaded AAR v7, I now get the following message form a website I need to view .pdf's: "Alert: Cannot Detect Required Acrobat Plug-in". I looked in "Manage add-ons" and did not see anything that would refer to AAR but I not sure that it should be there even if working correctly. I also checkec AAR under Preferences/Internet to make sure the box was checked to open in my browser. Any help would be appreciated !!!!!

If this were to happen to me, I would try reinstalling Acrobat Reader 7. Hopefully it would go quickly the second time.

Just as further information, I deleted again, all Adobe files I could find including a registry cleanup and again reinstalled Adobe Reader v7.0 and as you can see from the below display, that the BHO seems to be there but when I go to the site I need to read .pdf's I get a message that says "Alert: Cannot Detect Required Acrobat Plug-in. You need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader plug-in (version 4.0 or above) to view PDF files. Either you do not have this plug-in, or your browser does not support plug-in detection.":

Are you running any anti-spyware software that could possibly be interfering with BHOs?

I don't know ... I use all of the following: Trend Micro Pc-cillin, Bazooka Scanner, Microsoft Antispyware, SpyBot Search & Destroy, Ad-Aware, & Trojan Hunter and run Spyware Blaster. Any thoughts ?

I'd run MSAS & Spybot and check the BHO settings to see if the Adobe plugin is disabled.

I check the two programs and both have the Adobe BHO enabled.

Like I said, a long shot. Have you tried the Adobe Forums?

Re: Adobe Acrobat Reader 7 Integration (IE v6.0)

I took one of the above suggestions and went to the Adobe Forums to see what was up. It looks like MANY people are having problems with v7.0 integration into their systems. It also seemed as though many of those complaining had no problem with v6.0 and one person said they went back to v6.0 with no problem so I tried likewise and, voila, everything works. Thanks for all the suggestions form everyone.

This is why I love Woody's Lounge. Someone else has nearly always had the same problem and found a fix or work around.

My thanks to everyone in this thread!
