    Thanks Rudi

    That's a pretty cool idea, thanks. I have saved it away in my "Useful Code" folder

    Re: List Active Hyperlinks in a Directory! (Excel2000>)

    Thanx Jezza.

    I noticed that I get an error on my work PC. (see below).
    My work PC is Office 2000 where my home PC has Office 2003! Is this error due to the file picker not existing in Office 2000?

    What version are you running at the moment??
    Regards,
    Rudi

    The FileDialog object was introduced in Office XP (2002), so you should change the subject of your original post to read (Excel20002>)

    Alternatively, you can use the GetFolder function from <post#=271140>post 271140</post#> by Don Ceraso. It works in all versions.

    Rudi

    I think this will work for you in anything below 20002. When the macro runs it looks at BrowseFolder and gets the path name

    Public Function BrowseFolder(Optional Title As String = "Select a Folder Containing the files", _
    Optional RootFolder As Variant) As String
    On Error Resume Next
    BrowseFolder = CreateObject("Shell.Application").BrowseForFolder( 0, Title, 0, RootFolder).Items.Item.Path
    End Function

    Sub Rudi()
    Dim Your stuff

    FDPicker = BrowseFolder
    ......

    List Active Hyperlinks in a Directory! (Excel2000>)

    <P ID="edit" class=small>(Edited by Rudi on 06-Jun-05 12:20. I updated the code to run on Excel 2000 and earlier (MakeHyperlinks_2000) and on Excel XP and later (MakeHyperlinks_XP))</P>Hi all,

    Here is some code that I thought I'd post for the benefit of anyone who may need to list a link to files in a directory! The macro creates hyperlinks to all files (Excel Type, but it can be modified (eg. *.*)) in the directory you specify! After requesting something like this on the Access board a while back, i played with the idea in Excel, and came up with this.

    Again...if you can improve on the code, or suggest better code....I'd like to know about it!

    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Rudi

    Thanx Jezza...I have updated the code...fairly similar to what you suggested.

    Thanx Hans for advice and the link! Thanx Don for the Function!)

    Re: List Active Hyperlinks in a Directory! (Excel2000>)

    This is a quirk of the Lounge software.
    When you create a new post, the subject can be at most 50 characters, and there is a separate text box for the version info.
    When you edit an existing post, the subject and version info are combined in one text box, and the 50 character limit applies to the combination. You'd have to reduce the text to at most 50 characters in order to be able to edit it (it's 55 characters now).

    Thanx. Now I know for the future! I have since updated the code sothat it can run on Excel 2000 and earlier and Excel XP and later!

    If it is not to much to ask, could you post the updated worksheet again please.

    Thanks.

    Rudi has already updated the attachment to the initial post in this thread. It now contains two versions of the macro: one that will only work in Excel 2002 and higher, and one that will work in Excel 2000 and below (in fact in all versions of Excel)

    I just downloaded and tried to run the XP macro and still got the compile error mentioned earlier. I have Win XP and Excel 2002.
