Deleting blocked text (Word 2000 SP3)

    Word is misbehaving - again!

Suddenly when I highlight a block of text which I want to delete, and press the delete key, nothing happens. Previously this simple action would have caused the block of text to disappear - which is exactly what I want.

On studying my screen more closely, I see there is now a discrete question lurking in the bottom left of the screen:-

    Delete block? No (Yes)

The answer is yes, but I really don't want this extra warning.

Can anyone tell me where the setting is that has been inadvertantly switched on, and how I can switch it off again!

    Thanks

    Neil

At a guess, I'd check Tools > Options > Edit Tab > Typing replaces selection <- Check this box.

Thanks Alan, but no, that isn't it!

But my ever-reliable Office Manager has just shown me the answer (despite denying that she knew it earlier!).

The setting (which had just set itself!) is

Tools, Options, General Tab, Navigation Keys for Wordperfect Users.

It is now unchecked, and we are back in business!
