Could not find installable ISAM (Access 2003)

I converted an A97 database to Access 2003, it contained a link to a foxpro dbf file. After converting it revealed that an error occured something along the lines about "cannot find installable ISAM" (I will find out the exact error message tomorrow). I don't know the version of FoxPro that they are using, again I will find this out tomorrow.

When we tried to preview a report the above error was thrown up. The report has a record source of a simple query that uses the linked table.

See MSKB article You cannot connect directly to FoxPro databases in Access 2003. You will have to delete the link and create it anew using ODBC.

    Thanks Hans.
I will do that tomorrow at work.

I have A2002 at home and I find that I get the attached error when trying to access the table via a query. Also when I access the table via the tables tab in the database window it opens fine but will not allow any changes.

Re: Could not find installable ISAM (Access 2003)

I have found a link that suggests that you indeed cannot have a null field in one of the foxpro indexes. These indexes are imported into access. This problem does not happen in Access 97.

I had to link the file using the ODBC file type (for Access 2002) as opposed to a file type of DBase 5 (for Access 97).

Has anyone encountered this problem, and has a solution to it.

Re: Could not find installable ISAM (Access 2003)

I have received two problems from users (starting last week) trying to merge from Excel 2003 to Word 2003 and they get the same message. Cannot find installable ISAM. I noticed this happened after we sent out a package to upgrade to IE7 on campus. Not everyone is having problems as both users sent the files to me and I was able to merge them with no problems. The data files were never on Access though. Just excel??

    Any ideas??

Let the users try this on their PC:

    - Select Start | Run...
    - Type the following:

    regsvr32 c:windowssystem32msexcl40.dll

    - Click OK or press Enter.
