    Disabled Numbering Formatting (Word 2003)

I have a form with sections. There are some sections that are not protected so that spell check works. My customers are complaining that the numbering/bullets formatting is dimmed in these unprotected sections of the forms. Is there any way to fix this?

Re: Disabled Numbering Formatting (Word 2003)

    Welcome to Woody's Lounge!

Unfortunately, a lot of Word's features are disabled in a document protected for forms, even in unprotected sections. The user can activate / deactivate bullets or numbering through the toolbar buttons, but the Bullets and Numbering dialog is disabled.

One workaround would be to create a macro that unprotects the document, displays the Bullets and Numbering dialog, and reprotects the document when the dialog is closed. The macro could be made available through a custom toolbar button and/or menu item.

Another workaround is to unprotect the document when the insertion point is in an unprotected section, and to protect it when the insertion point is in protected section. This is more user-friendly, but also more difficult to set up. You can find the necessary code and a demo document in <post#=342898>post 342898</post#>.
