    Duplicate ID's (2002)

    Hi,

I've attached a stripped down version of the database I'm working on. It contains tblImport and a query. The query should yield the sum for each ID. In two cases the ID (which shouldn't be a duplicate) gives two different sums. I don't know why.

    Thanks,

The problem is that your Store_IDs are double precision numbers. There are two values that are both displayed as 29,578.1, but that actually differ by the extremely small number 3.6E-12, i.e. 0.000000000036. And there are two values that are both displayed as 30,100.1, but also differ by 3.6E-12.

A workaround is to run an update query that rounds Store_ID to 1 or 2 decimal places (or perhaps you can perform the rounding when importing):

    - Create a query based on tblImport.
    - Add Store_ID to the query grid.
    - Select Query | Update Query
    - In the Update to line, enter Round([Store_ID],1)
    - Select Query | Run or click the Run button.

After this, qryImportSum shouldn't contain duplicates any more.
