    remove hidden data (Office XP)

I just installed the Microsoft "Remove Hidden Data Tool" add-in. It works fine in PowerPoint and Excel, but when I open Word I get an error message that says it has an error trying to launch the remove data tool and try reinstalling. I've repaired and reinstalled a couple of times and the message remains.

    Suggestions?

Does this tool do anything that the Tools/Options/Security "remove personal information from file properties on save" does not?
Is there a way to keep the "remove personal information from file properties on save" box permanently checked?

    Thanks!

I'm not sure why the tool has problems on your system; do you have Administrator privileges?? While you wait for a more specific answer, you might try these past threads and see if they cover your question about the add-in's features:

    Yes, I am the admin.
Thanks for the past threads, the Bitform program looks interesting and I'll give it a try.
As the remove tools works correctly on our secretary's computer, my workaround is to have her do it as it is only an occaisonal need. However, I am interested in why it won't work in Word.
