    Reformatted Hard Drive (2000)

I recently had my hard drive reformatted. As a result, now none of my excel files contain any macros I previously had in my personal.xls folder. Anyone had this problem before? Any way around it?

Do you have a backup copy of your Personal.xls? If not, you'll have to create the macros from scratch.

Nope-but wouldn't they be contained in files saved before the reformatting?

Your statement "now none of my excel files contain any macros I previously had in my personal.xls folder" doesn't make much sense. Personal.xls is not a folder, it's a file. It is used to store macros that are available in all workbooks. If you don't have the old personal.xls, you don't have those macros.
If you had macros that were actually stored in workbooks you still have, those macros should still be available.

Thanks, Hans. I was unaware of the fact that the personal.xls is a separate file.

Thanks again. And there is no other way to get all of those back? There were several (>10) as I recall!

    Re: Reformatted Hard Drive (2000)

As I wrote, unless you have a backup copy of the old Personal.xls, the macros are lost. The file was deleted when your hard disk was reformatted, there is no way to retrieve files from before that.
