    Lock toolbars (2003/SP1)

I just installed Word 2003 yesterday. Since then, every time I open a document, most of my toolbars are in a different place from where I left them.

I don't mean they float all over the screen. I have them docked in the gray border near the top of the screen, but they appear in different spots within that gray border.

Is there a way to lock them in place?

    Thanks in advance,
    Erik

If each document has a different "attached" template, the settings in the template might be causing the changes of position. Other than opening the templates and fixing the toolbars in there, I don't think there is a quick fix. One of the not-quick fixes is to create a macro that positions the toolbars exactly where you want them. I wrote one for Outlook (<post#=343644>post 343644</post#>); it can't be used directly in Word because the toolbars belong to a different set of objects, but it could be adapted.

Another thing that impacts on toolbars is the Adobe add in. If you have Adobe Acrobat Writer installed you seem to loose a lot of controls over toolbars. If this is the case for you you can disable the macro and just turn it on when you need it.
