    File sharing issues

    Hi all.

I have a home network, desktop and laptop, both running XP Pro SP2.Both
    machines have 3 users.

This is my problem: I want to see my documents on both machines over the
network, so i set the folders to 'share on network'. I can now see laptop
docs from desktop and vice-versa. However, if someone else logs on, because
my docs is a shared folder, others can also see my files.

Can you please tell me how to set up so that my docs is shared, but only
visible to me. Do I have to set permissions somewhere in the hidden depths
of Windows? Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Phil.

    Re: File sharing issues

Maybe these two MSKB articles may help. Note that you must have your drives formatted in NTFS.

MSKB 304040: How to configure file sharing in Windows XP
