Windows ME

I have 256 ram and would like to increase to 512 but have been told from the computer store that windows ME won't use anything above 256. Is this true and will it help to increase ram

(Edited by tony55 on 16-Jun-05 17:00. )
Windows ME can handle up to 2GB of RAM, though there are potential problems if you go over 512MB of RAM - "Out of Memory" Error Messages with Large Amounts of RAM Installed

Added: for your 2nd question, will more RAM improve performance, the answer is almost certainly yes. See Will more memory make my system run faster?

To add to Tony's comments, ensure you get the memory which matches your machine. I have always found Crucial to have an excellent "memory advisor tool", and to deliver it very rapidly (in the UK, at least). I'm not often enthusiastic about computer parts suppliers!
