    Formula trouble (Word97)

I have had some limited success getting Word to do some simple formulas. However, I have encountered a problem spot.
The formulas work fine until the bottom of the Doc where I try to subtract Text44 from Text36 (Text Form Fields). Can someone please point me in the correct direction? I am attaching a stripped down doc.
    Thanks,
    Chuck

Why not use Excel for this? Word formulas are only suitable for simple calculations.

    Hi Chuck,

The calculation problem you're encountering has to do with a Word bug in formfields that perform calculations based on other formfields. All you need at each such point in your form is the formula field!

    See revised document attached.

    Hans,
I agree. I think I am close to convincing them, but they are concerned that it "Look Good". Thanks for looking at it.

    Thanks!
I will take a look at it. I am NOT good in Word but with help, I may be able to get by. I still agree with Hans that it should be done in Excel. I may even play with inserting an Excel section in the word doc. I downloaded your example and will go look at it now.
Thanks again for your time and effort.

    Macropod,
It works GREAT! Now, how does a person input those formula fields? I cannot even look at the ones you entered. I tried looking at the help file last week, and saw them mentioned, but can not figure out how to enter them. Maybe I can just copy them form yours and paste them into the doc....

    Thanks,

The document attached by macropod is protected for forms. Unprotect the document using Tools | Unprotect Document (or the lock button on the Forms toolbar), then press Alt+F9 to display field codes. Remember, you shouldn't type the field brackets { } yourself, either copy and paste an entire field including the brackets, or use Ctrl+F9 to insert the field brackets.

    Hans,

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I was thinking it was similar to how you enter Array formulas in Excel, but I guess not. I think I have it working now. Thanks for the help.
