Lounge down down under?

I'm wondering if anybody else in had problems connecting to the lounge yesterday (Friday). I had problems all day/ night, despite the fact that ping & trace routes worked fine. It seemed to be the only website affected, of all those I tried. Fine today as well.

I could not get all day either. I am at home now and the site works for me now!

Both the lounge and Woody's WOPR site were apparently down for about 24 hours.

That might go some ways towards explaining it.

I was experiencing similar panic myself.
In desperation I went to look at some cached lounge pages, but then realized I'd cleared my cache in hoping to rectify the problem.

My understanding is that there were electrical outages in the area that the server is located in due to some isolated thunderstorms. I'm about 100 miles from there and we didn't get them too badly, but apparently some areas got hit pretty hard with wind and heavy, flooding downpours. I'm sure Mike will be much more forthcoming with information than "that other company" was with our recent problems with them. Right Bob ???

That's a disparaging suggestion John...

Re: Lounge down down under?

Doc,
Yeah, I was out for the same time frame and it was ONLY the Lounge that seemed affected.

My immediate thought was "that company" was at it again and I would have to call the Chairman of the Board again but I decided to it for a while and see what happened.
( this was at the SAME time as the upgrade was to take place ) I wouldn't want to burden their minds(?) with TWO problems at the same time.

Hans and I were both suffering withdrawal symptoms, but when HIS hands shake, it's a real problem!! The power was apparently iffy for the better part of 24 hours.

Apparently it registered a 4.6 on the Richter Scale, all the way down here.

I don't get it. With no power, there's no Hans, so how could Hans hands shake?
