    Path and Filename in Footer

    Is there a way to put into the footer the information that =cell("filename") will give on the worksheet? The formula gets in the way of data and doesn't look that attractive. Excel 2002 does it very nicely, but everybody else has Office 97.
    Many thanks,
    jbs

    You can put code in the BeforePrint event routine to put the data into the header or footer, something like this:

    <pre>Private Sub Workbook_BeforePrint(Cancel As Boolean)
    ActiveSheet.PageSetup.CenterFooter = ActiveWorkbook.Path & "" & ActiveWorkbook.Name
    End Sub
    </pre>

    Many thanks. I have been wandering through the lounges during the last two days and haven't been as happy since the good ol' Compuserve days before Microsoft pulled out. But even at its best, it didn't give turnaround like this!

    Legarre,

    Would ActiveWorkbook.FullName also suffice ?

    I was a Microsoft MVP on Compuserve before Microsoft left. I hung around Compuserve until AOL bought it and started turning it into AOL. Even after Microsoft left and opened their news sites, CompuServe was still the best place around. Then AOL bought them and started closing all the old forums. The Lounge does now have everything else that I know about beat hands down.

    I second that notion (or emotion, depending on which decade you grew up in). I was at Deja until Google bought them and totally remade what was otherwise a very efficient system into a mess. Haven't been back since I found the Lounge.

    The Lounge has its roots in the Golden Age of Compuserve. That's where we lived before we invaded the Internet. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
    I was a Sysop and believe many of our regulars were too.

    I think I still have my sysop flags in the forums there, but I haven't been back since the New Lounge opened. If Bill Manville from the Excel forum there would just give up and come here, I wouldn't miss anything there.

    Mike,

    I had the same experience, being a frequent poster at Deja, I quit when Google indeed made a mess of it. However, in the meantime, it improved a lot. Romke Soldaat (maybe known from the Word VBA series in the Developers magazine (<A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.officevba.com>http://www.officevba.com</A>) pointed me to Woody's Lounge. I must say, I enjoy the lounge since I began posting. Never returned to Google!
