Convert WMAs to MP3s, and burn MP3s to CD-Rs

I'm looking for a program that will (1) convert WMAs to MP3s, and (2) burn those MP3s to CD-Rs (which I will then use in my MP3 car stereo, an AIWA CDC-X505MP).

The only program I've found that does this -- at least according to its tech. support dept. -- is Advanced MP3/WMA Recorder 6.0 (http://www.xaudiotools.com). Unfortunately, the software is confusing and can't figure it out.

Take a look at this Google search for some options. I assume you mean AIWA tech support referred you to Advanced MP 3/WMA Recorder 6.0. If they are protected WMA files, you might not find a converter supported by a commercial software vendor. No one wants to get sued by the RIAA. At least until they hear from the Supreme Court next week. <img src=/S/wink.gif border=0 alt=wink width=15 height=15>

As Jefferson points out, if the Windows Media Audio (WMA) files are secure, you may be out of luck. I have several such files that I can't convert.

You'll have to do it in a couple of steps, but Exact Audio Copy appears to decompress WMA files to WAV (under the Tools | Decompress menu), and if you set EAC up correctly, you can then compress WAV files to the MP3 format of your choice. After you get them converted to MP3's burn them to your media like any data file - you don't need any special software for that.

Related note - if you go looking for the latest compiled Windows executables for LAME, the LAME site doesn't seem to carry them any more, but I found them here (the parent page under Important Note warns not to use 3.96 Final).

I too Googled that phrase, but I was hoping someone here could recommend something specific, as opposed my downloading programs on a trial basis...

I'm not so sure one program that does everything will give you the flexibility you may find you want.
Are you trying to go from Audio cd to MP3 cd in one jump? Do you have multiple cd drives?

wma-mp3.com also has some software available, but probably not the full monty you are looking for.

I would tend to agree with Leif on this, in that you would limit your flexibility by using just one program to accomplish both tasks.

Thanks for all your help with this. Although I wanted an all-in-one-program, it turns out that Microsoft Plus! Audio Converter, which I already have on my computer, converts WMA to MP3s. So, for the sake of simplicity, I'll just use that. Thanks again.
