Removal of Sun Java Applet in Control Panel

Running ME...had installed the SUN Java Environment, etc...but this has slowed down my machine...uninstalled said Environment in the Add/Remove, rebooted...but still show the 'coffeecup' Java applet in the Control Panel and when I go to Tools>the dropdown shows 'Sun Java Console'.
I would like to remove any and all data pertaining to SUN Java from this machine.
    All help is greatly appreciated.

Why, it was replaced the version from Microsoft and the Sun version is the ONLY current uptodate version.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

SUN Java makes this machine run too slow...and I'm just happy w/the M$ Java...

All I want is instructions to completely remove the SUN data in the Registry, etc. Please.
    Thank you.

Does any Sun Java version show in add/remove programs? If not, search for *.cpl in your Windows install folder. Look for jpicpl32.cpl. Rename it jpicpl32.old. That should resolve the control panel issue. After you are comfortable that nothing unusual is going on you can delete the file.

Thanks for the info...did a 'google' for SUN Java...re-installed the thing...then, rebooted in Safe Mode and uninstalled it from the Add/Remove ...went into the Registry while still in Safe Mode, searched for JavaSoft...deleted those entries...rebooted into Normal Mode and everything is back to the way it was before. <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>

BTW, nothing to Sun Java (etc.) was listed in the Add/Remove from the previous uninstall.
