BLUE SCREEN (XP Pro)

Hi All,

The 3 or 4 days, my computer at random times "shuts down" and I get the blue screen. I had it happen 4 times yesterday within 1 1/2 hours. I got so frustrated with it that I turned it off until just a few minutes ago. Within 10 minutes of me turning it on, I got a blue screen again.

I wrote the "technical Information" following each blue screen yesterday. If that's needed by anyone to help me with this, please let me know & I'll send it.

When I get my computer fixed so it will stay on without me fearing the color blue, I have a problem with VERY slow running computer, especially when I'm connected to the internet.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Both the random shutting down and the slowness might be caused by viruses or spyware/malware on your PC. These days, having adequate protection is an absolute must if your computer is connected to the internet.
Do you have an anti-virus program installed and kept up to date? If not, get one as soon as possible. In the meantine, you can run a free scan by clicking the icon at the top of any forum here in the Lounge.
For anti-spyware programs, see Anti Adware, Spyware, Hijack. Most Loungers use a combination of several of the applications mentioned there.

This can also be a hardware or driver problem. Please post the 'technical information' as that will usually help identify the culprit.

It also be very helpful if you post system and application errors from event log:

Start | Run, type EVENTVWR and hit Enter, then select System, Application on the left pane, for each select events on the right pane marked with red X and yellow exclamation sign and write down event description.
