    E-Mail Meta Data (2003)

If someone forwards an e-mail, is there attached "meta data" that shows where the e-mail originated?

If you open the message and select "View | Options" the dialog will show you the "Internet headers" information.

I'd never thought to look there before. I doesn't appear there is a "history" there, i.e., I received an e-mail and forwarded on to someone else, it doesn't appear that the "original" sender is listed? Am I correct?

Yes, what is shown under Options is the data from the SMTP/RFC822 "envelope" for that particular message. (On Exchange Server, the envelope is not available to the user for internal messages.)
