    Linking between workbooks

    Hi
I'm working with Excel2000 and a number of the workbooks contain links, and I am not sure about how I should proceed. If I have 2 workbooks, say ws1.xls and ws2.xls, and there are links between them. I update ws1.xls and close, saving the data. I open ws2.xls and get a msgbox to connect links or not to connect. At this point whats the correct procedure.
It appears to me that unless I have both workbooks open the data in ws2.xls does not get updated. I'm obviously doing something wrong, but what.
    Can anyone help or explain?

    Thanks in anticipation

    Re: Linking between workbooks

    Hi Jim,

When you open i linked workbook, you are asked if you want to update the links. If you select Yes, then the workbook is updated without you having to open the first workbook.

You can also update the links manually by going to Edit, Links and selecting Update Now.

    Hope that helps you
