    Deleting from Control Panel

Running XP SP2. Somehow, in transferring programs/files from my old computer, an entry for Iomega Active Disk Control Panel showed up in my Control Panel. The program, as well as any dll files, is not on the new one, nor does it show up in Add/Remove programs, and Search doesn't show any entries. I'd like to get rid of its appearance in the Control Panel, though. Any suggestions?

Have you tried TweakUI XP? It has an option to customize the control panel. You can download it from Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP.

I have TweakUI, but didn't think of using it. Thanks for the reminder.

Just remember that if you use TweakUI to change the control panel view you are not getting rid of the .cpl file. If you search in your
%windir%system32 folder for *.cpl and examine the properties for each you should be able to identify the culpri. Then rename it. If there are no untoward happenings on your sytem for a while then delete the renamed file - you get to define how logn a 'while' is.
