    Online help connects to Web (Excel 2003 SP1)

    Subject edited by HansV to be less vague than "Excel"

    <img src=/S/question.gif border=0 alt=question width=15 height=15>

    Why does Excel have to go to web to get Help information that IMHO should be available on my hard drive? For example, I was looking at the Financial Functions and every time I clicked on one it went to the web to bring back the information <img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20>. This seems very inefficient, but then MS is not exactly known for being efficient. <img src=/S/hairout.gif border=0 alt=hairout width=31 height=23>

    Any insight that anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated <img src=/S/thankyou.gif border=0 alt=thankyou width=40 height=15> <img src=/S/compute.gif border=0 alt=compute width=40 height=20>.

    Under Excel Help | Customer Feedback Options, you can change this behavior per the graphic; turning all web access off per the graphic will limit Help Searches to local content.

    I don't know but if you agreed to sign up to the Customer Experience Improvement Program, it may cause this behaviour.

    Check Tools, Options, General and click on Service Options. You can then establish if you signed up for the program, and may if you wish disengage.

    Thanks, Andrew, I had not noticed you could get to the dialog through Tools | Options | General | Service ...
