    tiling the screen (2003)

I have to display standard project reports on the screen so that project directors can see:

    A legend
    A set of project reports
    A project time line

Is it possible to split the excel screen 3 ways so that each tile operates independently and:

The project time line can be shown as a section across the whole of the bottom of the screen,
The legend can shown in the upper left 1/3 of the screen
The project reports can be shown in the upper right 1/3 of the screen

I would also like the row and column widths for each 1/3 of the screen to be able to be set independently without reference to the other 2 thirds.

Not quite sure exactly what you are after. You can create 3 separate worksheets in the same workbook and have them all as windows (window - new window) sized as desired (press the button between minimize and close to toggle full screen or window view).

The windows, each being separate sheets, are totally independent and can have the rows and columns set to any width you want.

One possible way to to this is to open the three workbooks, ensuring thaey are all maximised in the Excel window Then press

    Window|Arrange|Tiled|OK

The workbooks wil then arrange themselves in the Excel window then

    File|Save Workspace

this will result in a xlw file being created that contains those worksheets
