# Thread: SUMIF Date Range (2003)

1. ## SUMIF Date Range (2003)

I need to sum the totals in column B based on a date range in Column A. I will be creating a Sum of January totals, February Totals, March Total, etc. I can get it to add if I use a >date, but not between dates.

Thanks

For January, it would be

=SUMIF(A1:A22,">=1-Jan-05",B1:B22)-SUMIF(A1:A22,">=1-Feb-05",B1:B22)

Another possibility would be to add a column that calculates the month: e.g. enter the formula =MONTH(A1) in C1 and fill down as far as needed. This column can be hidden. The SUMIF formula for January would be

=SUMIF(C1:C22,1,B1:B22)

For January:
=SUMIF(A1:A22,">="&DATE(2005,1,1),B1:B22)-SUMIF(A1:A22,">="&DATE(2005,2,1),B1:B22)

For Feb
=SUMIF(A1:A22,">="&DATE(2005,2,1),B1:B22)-SUMIF(A1:A22,">="&DATE(2005,3,1),B1:B22)

etc
