File in use error (Excel 2003)

I have a user who tried to open a file and got an error message that the file is locked by herself. The file was not open, hidden or anything else by this user. We were never able to open it other than read only even after rebooting. I have searched the forum and found very interesting info about startup problems with Excel, same with MS Knowledge base. This is not a startup problem, though. Just a problem with this one file. Any idea what this could be?
    Thank you in advance!

The workbook has probably become corrupt. You can try several things:
    - Save the workbook as a .HTML file, close and reopen the .HTML file, and save it as a workbook (.XLS) again.
    - Copy the worksheets to a new workbook.

    Thank you Hans,
I ended up saving it under another name. Was just hoping that there was something else I could have done.
    Will try the hml next.
    Thanks

If the file is on a file server, then the problem could be that the server has it locked. If that is the case, then rebooting the server should free it up.
