    Spyware warnings.

I just totally reformatted my machine and reinstalled XP. Got into the internet once and started getting all these messages that look serious but may be hokum: ( I mean after all, it should be totally clean) : "message from security to alert" MS win has detected your internet browser is infected w/spyware, thiefware, & adware. go to http://swipespy.com." And "download registry repair from www. reg-patch.com. etc., from www.pcregtix.com and so on. If it is all bogus, how sdo I stop these messages?

    Re: Spyware warnings.

    They are bogus warnings.
    - Turn on a popup blocker. Windows XP SP-2 has one, as has the Google toolbar.
    - See Anti Adware, Spyware, Hijack for recommendations on software against spyware etc. Most Loungers use a combination of programs, since no individual program will catch all malware.
