As part of a team-building exercise, a special test was devised. 50 participants were placed into a darkened room, each with a coloured baseball cap upon their head. These baseball caps came in two colours, red and green, however, no participant knew the colour of their own cap. They were not allowed to communicate in any way. Their task was to assemble outside, in a line, with those wearing red caps in one half of the line and those wearing green in the other. How could they achieve this?

Starting with a five letter word, change one letter to create a new word. This word is then changed by one letter to create another new word. For example, DOG, DIG, FIG etc. These words in turn mean:

a gaggle of geese
a device for measuring time
what you can do with a mouse
a baby chicken
a device to prevent wheels from moving
a surprise
a small house
a pile of cards
a small piece of wood
unable to move

Can you find five hidden countries in the following paragraph?

Dominic had a certain way with animals, he could almost talk to them. By tickling it under the chin, a tiger would roll over and let its belly be tickled. This technique is used to good effect in gaining its trust and allows a vital yearly treatment to be performed safely, the removal of nits, whereby a special blend of malt and water is rubbed into the skin.

The local river Trent is 4100 inches wide, which happens to be a fantastic number. There is a magnificent bridge which spans the river. During a recent survey of the area it was found that one seventh of the overall length of the bridge was on one side of the river and one eighth of the bridge was on the other side of the river. How long is the bridge which spans the river Trent?

Brilliant attempt, Hans, which I will accept. However, there is a more fitting last pair of words.

Right No.1

The first two come out and stand next to each other. The next applicant should come out of the room and look at the line , if all of the caps are the same colour, they should stand at either end of the line. If any of the hats are different colours then they should stand where the caps change from green to red
