Access Front End Missing Menu Entries (Access 2002 Win2K)

I have a user who is having difficulty running a db I've constructed.
Unfortunately, I haven't seen the system so am receiving reports 3rd hand about the problem.

The db is split into a front/back. The installed frontend includes the runtime for Access 2002.
I am not sure what version of Access he has on his machine (and I don't believe it is relevant when the runtime is used - if this assumption is not correct, someone please let me know). He has Windows 2K as OS.
Apparently on entering password for the DB originally - he received a macro warning message (which seems to conflict with my runtime assumption). However, the DB did open.
However, most of the menu entries did not appear. Except for one that links to a table without security. (this may be a red herring <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15> ). Opening that menu crashes the DB anyway.
My on-site tester tried logging in as himself - same problem of missing entries.
Everything has been going smoothly for the other users we have been installing on (both W2K and XP operating systems).
If you have any suggestions for troubleshooting, it would be helpful.

    Thanks

The macro warning seems to indicate that the user has Access 2003, and that he is opening your frontend using Access 2003 instead of the Access 2002 runtime. Did you provide a shortcut that opens the frontend woth the runtime?

You might also check to see if the user in question has another commercial Access application that could have updated the Jet engine to the very latest version. It should be pretty easy to determine whether Access 2003 has been installed by checking the version of the file MSACCESS.EXE - you will probably find two or more if another commercial app is installed or the user has 2003. Also are you opening your application from a shortcut which specifies the location of the runtime, or are you just pointing to the database?

I made an install package which creates a shortcut using the runtime and .mdw file. Hmmm I wonder if its pointing in the wrong direction.

As I think about it, I presume you built custom menu bars and the like - can you ascertain whether they are seeing the standard menu bars or seeing yours but with some of the options missing?

I don't know about menu bars - I'll ask. However, the menus (forms) I built are missing entries.

That's curious - are they based on the Switchboard wizard, or are they forms with buttons and the like? If they are table driven, and the table is stored in the back-end, perhaps that person isn't correctly linked to the back-end.

No - they aren't switchboard based...

Sounds like you need to be on the site - any chance of using Remote Desktop?

No chance, however another little piece of information just dribbled in.
This is the first machine that is in a domain, not a workgroup. I'm betting that not everything in the install package was installed due to security.

That sounds like a very good possibility - I understand the challenges, but we at least in most cases can use Remote Desktop.
