Firefox and Word Issues in the NY Times

This was on the NY Times Technology page:

Firefox update squashes security bugs 9:15 p.m. ET
    MORE NEWS FROM CNET
Microsoft Warns of Software Flaws in Word, Windows 6:35

But, look at the anti MSFT bias:
Firefox had a problem released a fix and "squashed the bug".
MSFT found a problem and released a fix but the headline only mentions the problem, not that there is a fix.

Is that not biased or not?
(I hope this is the right place to post this, could not figure out a better one)

Re: Firefox and Word Issues in the NY Times

Having checked the two articles, I don't think it is a bias by the NY Times which is linking to articles from 2 different sources, CNET and Reuters. Both articles explain that security flaws have been found and patched, with the wording of the headings coming from the originating organisation and not the NY Times.

    Tony,

There may not be bias on the NY Times part but I think there is a substantial bias in favor of ABM (anybody but Microsoft) in most technology reporting these days. The wording just of the headlines and summaries is a clue. Plus if you read the articles you'll find that the Mozilla folk don't even tell you what was fixed (they're working on a description). Microsoft would be roasted for not having disclosed what problem was being resolved. Also, note that news darling Apple gets the usual royal treatment with Apple tweaks Tiger OS by CNET.
