    Sending mail with/without attachments (2000)

Task: Sent an e-mail to multiple recipients with an attachment, but not all of the e-mail recipients to receive the attachment. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

You'll have to create a macro that loops through the recipients, and sends a mail with or without attachment depending on some criteria. Without knowing details, it's hard to give specific advice.

    Just to clarify.

Do you have a list of email address of recipients on the Excel worksheet and how do you plan to say which one gets the attachment and who doesn't.

How about only those that are on the primary address line (i. e., not "cc-ed") would get the attachment, while those on the cc line would not?

No, you will have to send out two different versions of the e-mail, one with attachment and one without.

Thanks, Hans. This might be a good feature to include in future versions of Excel!

I don't think existing mail systems provide this feature.

AHA! I see; it's really an Outlook issue (?)

Yep, or whatever mail system the user has.

Re: Sending mail with/without attachments (2000)

FWIW, I've got a thing called YAMS. Here's the blurb:

    YAMS
Description: YAMS (Yet Another Mail Sender) is a freeware SMTP mailer. It sends the same e-mail in many recipients. This means that YAMS sends to every recipient as mailing him separately. The message body can contain a field, like $name$. When the message is sent, the field $name$ is replaced with the name of the recipient as specified in the list of recipients.
YAMS requires a Internet Service Provider account. YAMS does not support AOL, MSN, Juno, or Web-based mail accounts (such as Yahoo Mail or Hotmail).

So if your excel thing could generate two different target lists, one for with and one for without the attachment, there may be an only slightly clunky workaround.
I haven't used it, in all honesty, but as it comes from the Netherlands, it's probably ok **grin**

The website seems to be broken, if you want me to send it, ask.

    Best of luck.
