    Auto-format as You Type (XP)

    I learned a trick here many months ago relating to automatic formatting of entered text. For example, I've set up some cells such that when I type '1234' it gets formatted as a time ('12:43'). I recall that the method could be used for any number of applications - phone numbers (i.e., automatically adding the dash), currencies (i.e., entering '123' would convert to '$1.23), etc.

    My problem is that this formatting trick has spread to some cells where I don't want it. And I can't remember the trick to figure out how to turn it off.

    My search of the archives did not help. Any ideas?

    Right-click the sheet tab of the worksheet.
    Select View Code from the popup menu.
    Do you see any code such as

    Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)

    or

    Private Sub Worksheet_Calculate()

    Well, thanks a lot. Now I feel dumb.

    That's where it is. I can fix it from here.

    Thanks, Hans.
